'Berita Dunia' or 'Propaganda'?
Yesterday, during RTM's Berita Dunia coverage of the attack on the US, I was appalled to hear the 'journalist' drawing comparisons to the (apparent) situation here in Malaysia via his 'insight' into the Taliban Islamic fanatics and its alleged terrorist methods. This pretentiousness and clearly biased 'report' conveyed the message that the violence that had befallen the Americans may well happen to us if we support PAS instead of the government.
Firstly, let me set the record straight that I am not in any way a supporter of PAS, nor am I a Muslim. Neither am I a supporter of the ruling party - which I emphasise here because of the manipulative, condescending and insulting manner in which RTM has handled this devastating event.
It has been truly a sad day for America and the world, and the government-controlled RTM has the gall to turn it into a political campaign?!
I speak against the Barisan Nasional not as this country's government, but the BN as a political party on whose selfish behalf it has surely acted last night.
Yes, I stand against violence and terrorism - at home and abroad. Yes, I stand against certain policies that PAS adheres to. But most of all, I stand against media propaganda that serves to insult the intelligence of the people, and to blind the people with unproven accusations and pretenses.
Instead of presenting an informative and objective report, the 'journalist' had merely sent out this message: If you support PAS, you'll get aeroplanes crashing into your homes.
