All this talk about how the US should refrain from retaliatory action and reconsider its foreign policy instead is hogwash. If you don't like the US policy, then tell US officials and they will listen to what you have to say. Whether they agree or not is up to them. However, under no circumstances will the US negotiate with terrorists.

As a consequence of this attack, if the US were to listen to Islamic fundamentalists, pull out of the Middle East and stop standing by Israel, it will be too easy for others to exploit. China might launch a missile at the Grand Canyon, and the US will pull out of the Pacific, leaving Taiwan to China and encouraging Japan to develop its own nuclear weapons for self-defence.

Saddam Hussein might just launch a missile at Israel or Saudi Arabia and Iraq can re-conquer Kuwait.

The lesson is that negotiation with terrorists is not an option. The example that needs to be set is a comprehensive retaliatory attack. Every little terrorist cell needs to be identified and eliminated. Unfortunately, this is the only language they can fully understand.
