With reference to 'Change US policy to suit whom?', (Sept 22), the answer is simply "change the US policy to suit Americans".

The writer wanted us to believe that any change in US foreign policy can bring terrorism from the people affected. This is true only if US is not neutral and continue to be oppressive.

The government of America is responsible for sending thousands of American soldiers to fight Iraq. There, the Americans used dilapidated uranium which is internationally banned.

After the war, the US soldiers complained of an array of debilitating ailments - mainly cancer - loosely grouped together as the 'Gulf War Syndrome'. This has also led to the spread of cancer and extreme deformities among Iraqi children according to the Miami Herald magazine.

"Didn't the US government send its army to fight the Vietnamese?" There, they were defeated. Then, the US government said, "Oops! Sorry, it was a mistake". Then they sent their troops to Somalia. The Somalian chased them away from their territory. Again, the US government said, "Oops, I did it again" and withdrew its troops.

Now it's Afghanistan. My point is that the US army is made up of innocent people who have to die because of their boss' false calculations or in Halliday's words "criminal calculations".

When they come back with disease gathered in their war against devastated countries and impoverished people, the American government will claim that they were "freedom fighters". Still, this rhetoric can not cure nor bring back the dead.

Why must the Americans get involved in every place on earth to deprive the people's freedom to choose. The very freedom that they are claiming to defend.

With all the rhetoric that follows every bombardment, US can never deny the fact that they are the ones who are protecting the most oppressive regimes of Arabic countries as well as the ones in Africa so long as they do not defy the US policy.

The price is paid by innocent people including the US army who knows only how to follow orders. My answer to the question "change the US policy to suit whom?" is very clear. Change it to suit the Americans.
