While BN leaders gloat about DAP's exit from BA, and exploit the issue to the brim for propaganda against the opposition, a new avenue seems to be opening for Keadilan with its multi-ethnic philosophy.

DAP, the remnant of Lee Kuan Yew's PAP, is undeniably surviving on Chinese sentiments and to a significant extent on the Chinese culture and race.

It was riding on opposition sentiment and spirit, and over the years its race-based platform was exploited by BN to play on racial animosity to intimidate voters .

With the emergence of multi-ethnic Keadilan, the brainchild of Anwar Ibrahim, DAP's prominence eroded. Keadilan has managed to capture the imaginations and aspirations of the educated and youthful Malaysian community of all races and seems to have overshadowed DAP .

Keadilan's enormous potential, rapid growth and strength threatened Mahathir's Umno to the point that the Internal Security Act had to be abused to protect its grip on political power.

The use of ISA to ward of Keadilan's threat itself is irrefutable proof that the party will ultimately be the nightmare of Mahathir and his Umno autocracy. DAP has lost its savour, its sting, and its nebulous ideology has left it unattractive in the light of the emerging Keadilan with its multi-ethnic, multi-dimensional and civil-society philosophy.

Chinese support for DAP has also waned over the years, largely because it failed to recreate itself with the needs of time. The epicentre of political change is now seen in Keadilan, and all eyes are on Keadilan as DAP proves more of an outmoded political misfit amidst the emerging multi-ethnic spirit of Malaysian society.

DAP was opposition centered, Keadilan on the contrary is alternative centered, with the potential of becoming the nation's second option for the people to relieve BN from its race-based divide-and-rule tactics, inherited from colonial politics.

Keadilan, rightly viewed, is a miniature BA with the potential of capturing into its fold, people all races, creeds and beliefs. With DAP quitting from the BA, the new-age Chinese who are sick and tired of racial politics will find in Keadilan a realisation of their hopes and aspirations.

DAP's severance from the BA has given a new impetus to Keadilan in its march towards building an united Malaysia where the interest of all major and minor communities are once and for all safeguarded.

Chinese have now got a better option, to assimilate into the multi-ethnic fraternity that Keadilan is creating. DAP with its racists ideology will fade away as it becomes irrelevant and incompatible with genuine multi-ethnicity as its core philosophy.

It will not be wrong to say that Keadilan will soon seize the opportunity and open wide its door to invite and accept Chinese who have had enough DAP's opposition which has limited value.

It is indeed refreshing to see a new avenue opened for Keadilan to expand its wings and bring into its grouping Malaysians of all kinds and creeds. We hope this new brand of multi-ethnic politics will emerge in the aftermath of DAP's exit from BA.
