Love him or hate him, but one thing is sure, Anwar in defeat has emerged a winner - solid, persistent, resolved and until the very end, undaunted. To put oneself as he did; always in the line of fire with insults which were down right ugly.

I for one, salute him. Anwar did a service to his countrymen and the unbridled power of the ruling regime who do not know that they need it. And to Mr Bakri Musa's "Anwar who"(Sept 21) have some compassion; there's no need to kick a man's face in the mud just because he's down. Anwar may have got beaten, but he sure didn't lose. Remember, the phoenix does rise from the ashes.
