Al Muwahidun in his letter, 'Free yourself from the media to discover the truth', Sept 28, was very kind to point out to us 'average viewers' that we are being made to believe that something that has not happened has happened because we do not "have the ability to constantly separate fact from conclusion".

He then subtly suggests that the attack on America was orchestrated by Israel. The basis for his allegation (not made outright of course, but very obvious from the 'facts' he sandwiched with his conclusions) was that former Israeli Prime Minster Ehud Barak was available for an interview shortly after the attacks.

The fact that he was able to speak for half an hour meant he must have prepared his speech beforehand, which made things very suspicious. Ridiculous! And let's not forget the fact that Barak was actually in London at the time of the attack - what more conclusive evidence could there be!

If Israel was really able to get twenty Arabs to commit suicide to further the aims of Israel, they deserve more respect than they have been given. But really, what motive could Israel possibly have in attacking their ally! Osama bin Laden has virtually nothing to do with Israel - he is not interested in the cause of the Palestinians.

And lets not forget that Israel will come under a lot more pressure to reach a settlement now that the US has organised a united front against terrorism. It would be far more helpful to the situation if Al Muwahidun could offer some useful suggestions as to why these people feel compelled to attack the US and its allies.

Muwahidun may also point to the US presence in the Gulf, but let's not forget that they were invited there in order to free Kuwait from Saddam Hussain's clutches. Has Saudi Arabia asked the US to leave? Has Saddam Hussain stopped building weapons or palaces in order to feed his own people? You might have different ideas about how to solve this problem, but killing innocent people is not the solution.
