An MCA leader who cares
I'm writing this letter to express my outrage and disappointment of the MCA president's action of sacking Mr Chua Jui Ming as Kedah MCA chief. I would like to share my personal view as to why he is worth many cents more as compared to many other leaders.
In 1987, I was back home in Malaysia for short holidays after spending several years in the US. One of the sad news I heard was that a neighbour's child was killed in an accident at the junction of Jalan Bakri and Jalan Sakeh. The first thing that came to my mind was that I did not want this type of tragedy to happen to another family at the same junction.
At that time Chua was an MP for Muar. I managed to talk to him about putting up a traffic light at that junction. Several weeks later, I was told a traffic light has been installed at that junction.
Many years have gone by and many lives have been safe. I always wanted to express my sincere thanks to Chua personally but did not have the chance to. The time has come to let more people know that Chua is a person who cared and is willing to listen and act to benefit the people.
On behalf of all those people who use that junction, we say thank you "Mr Chua". You have lost just a post, I want to let you know that it may be nothing as compared to the good deeds you've done to the people of Muar. The agony and pain of family who lost a loved one in the accident that you've helped to minimise will remain in my heart for many years.
Mr Chua, you have a lot of supporters. You are articulate, energetic and a dynamic person and have represented Malaysia very well in the foreign media. Be strong and do what you believe in.
