I read the article, 'America under attack - lessons from Hollywood', by Andrew Sia with interest.

Things that struck me - that every side thinks their war is the righteous war. . .(but US has better 'marketing' than Osama bin Laden, thus making the former 'more right'); that history recommends the win-win benefits of economic growth, but is ignored (once again) by the US (some people never learn); that the gospel of hatred is being spread by the media and American propaganda. . .turning Afghans into a faceless non-human group. . .and that non-Muslim Malaysians with their innate prejudice against Muslims (yes, of course, it exists!) cannot perceive it as a human tragedy on both sides, and instead just want to take the easy way out and support US in whatever it wants to do.

Now the bombing has started. And violence can only lead to more violence. . .in an interview on CNN , Shimon Peres dismissed terrorists as "cowards who will only prey on the weak, therefore, we must show strength to overcome them".

I think he's mistaken. All humans, if cornered, will come out fighting even if it is a lost cause, because they have nothing to lose.

And that's the saddest part - that they feel they have nothing to live for anymore.
