Since the last general election (GE) on March 8, I sit and wonder where we are today ten months past the election.

The rakyat have voiced their views and a change was seen in the five states but I am still surprised to see the bickering among some elected members of Parliament from some of the states.

Being an elected MP, one must anticipate negative reactions from the opposition (BN) but from what I see and hear, it looks like these Pakatan Rakyat MPs were not ready for such attackes or were caught off-guard that they tended to defend their territory immediately.

Here are some suggestions for PR-led governments if you want to see the rakyat behind you:-

- Never ignore your responsibilities (that includes national and social responsibilities)

- Your professionalism is vital in the way you handle challenges

- Your time management is crucial in keeping the promises you made before being elected

- Always lend a ear first before we open our mouth to criticise

- Tomorrow’s challenges depend on today’s priorities

- Study, understand and implement your responsibilities using the FMEA (Failure, Mode, Effect Analysis) technique

- Maintain what you have implemented by having timely reviews

- Cut costs wherever necessary to improve the economic situation of the state and nation.

Remember, you were elected for a reason and that is to see changes which benefit the rakyat and the nation.

I know it may sound simple to some of you but try doing the above and see the difference. You will be surprised of what you are capable of. All the best!
