I have been following some of the discussions about the recent activities in Malaysia with respect to PAS' stand against the US attack on terrorists in Afghanistan.

I strongly feel that PAS' proclamation of jihad against the US, their call for demonstrations and also by encouraging their supporters to fight the US (and their allies) in Afghanistan have very negative effects on Malaysia. Malaysia has always been seen by the world as a progressive Muslim country with a strong vision for economic, social and technological development.

But the actions of PAS have dampened the positive image of our nation and threatened the future of our country. Our economic growth has largely been dependent on foreign trade and investment, mostly by Western countries that have been strongly instrumental in transferring technology and skill to our nation.

If Malaysia jeopardises her economic and political relationships with these countries, we will definitely be affected by the possible pull out of these countries. The actions of PAS will instigate fear among our current trading partners and eventually drive them to other 'safer' havens for trade. For example, China which is the new economic power house in Asia is ever willing to accept these people with open arms.

I can conclude that PAS is just creating a big political propaganda to gain votes and support from ignorant Muslims. But, I am an educated Malaysian and Muslim who can see through their evil deeds. What is the point of PAS winning over the people but destroying Malaysia's economic engine?

I'm quite sure PAS will fail in its attempt, but it is bringing down the entire nation and what we have all struggled to build in the past few decades! What will become of Malaysia when our economy is ruined by the extremism of PAS?

Social unrest will follow and the situation can be as ugly as the present condition in Indonesia. I strongly urge my Malaysian brothers and sisters to condemn the extremism of PAS and is unreasonable struggle for power and attention. It will be like cancer that slowly destroys our entire nation's growth, stability and future.
