I refer to the Malaysiakin i report Mahathir: Boycott US products and their currency .

Dr Mahathir Mohamad's condemnation of the United States for backing Israel in its attack on Gaza smacks of hypocrisy. He urged Malaysians to boycott US products.

He also urged the government to stop buying American weapons. Instead, he urged us to buy from the Russians.

I am sure Mahathir is not oblivious to what Russia has been doing in Chechnya. I cannot seem to remember Mahathir using strong words to condemn Russia when it invaded Chechnya in 1994 or when they killed Chechen president Dzokhar Dudayev.

Nor do I remember him condemning the puppet government installed by Russia in Chechnya. And what about the continued persecution of Muslims in East Turkestan by the Chinese? I have not heard of him asking us to boycott Chinese products.

What is the difference between the Muslims in Palestine and the Muslims in both Chechnya and East Turkestan?

The Arab states might give more attention to Palestine, as Palestinians are Arabs. But what about Mahathir? Is he an Arab? Is Malaysia an Arab country?

True, what the Israelis are doing in Gaza is cruel and inhuman. But why keep quiet when the Palestinians keep firing rockets into civilian areas of Israel?

The Chechens and the Uighurs of East Turkestan as far as I can remember have never fired rockets into the heart of Moscow or Beijing.

The huge support for Palestine is not based on Muslim brotherhood, but on Pan-Arab nationalism. Unfortunately Mahathir fails to see this.

I hope he does not forget that it was the US which helped liberate Kosovo and recognize Kosovo as an independent state.

The US made it possible for another Muslim country to exist in Europe, a move which Russia strongly objected to. And here we have the Tun asking Malaysia to buy weapons from the Russians. How very inane.
