After eight years of smearing the office of the American presidency, George Bush Jr, who had shoes thrown at him, will be leaving office withdrawing to his luxurious retirement home and drawing a big fat pension.

Indeed, Bush is the greatest tragedy of the world and the biggest mistake made by the American people as well as the American system because the way he got elected for the second term was not quite conclusive.

But the biggest blame for the death of thousands upon thousands of innocent people during Bush’s presidency should be equally shared by his wife Laura Bush, that phoney sweet-looking woman who as an American woman, should have had a mind of her own and tried to influence her husband.

But no, she went along with her husband and whenever she followed him on foreign trips she was quite content to visit libraries.

Compared to Eleanor Roosevelt (wife of the 26 th US president Theodore Roosevelt), Rosalynn Smith Carter (wife of 39 th US president Jimmy Carter) and Hillary Clinton (wife of the 42 nd US president Bill Clinton), Laura Bush’s stay at the White House was a disgrace.

As wife of the president, she could have made a lot of difference to her husband’s policies. As a mother, she could have told her husband to stop the Israelis from attacking Gaza because Israeli’s disproportionate response killed a lot of children and women.

As a wife, Laura Bush could have acted as a moderator because her so-called policy advisers and lobby groups comprise people with various agendas including many Zionists.

Eleanor took on many public duties and was actively involved in numerous social projects from equal rights for women and minority groups to child welfare and slum area clearance.

She was a US delegate to the UN and was appointed chairperson of the UN Commission for Human Rights and helped to draft the Universal Declaration of Human rights of 1948. Besides this, she traveled the world tirelessly as a UN representative.

She also wrote a syndicated and influential column for over 20 years. Both Rosalynn Smith Carter and Hillary Clinton also proved to be a positive part of their husbands’ administrations.

While Bill was in office, Hillary tried to overhaul the US healthcare system which until today still marginalises the young and the elderly who cann't afford expensive medical insurance.

Hillary, after losing the Democratic presidential nomination to Barack Obama will now be Obama’s secretary of state so let us hope that she and Obama will make some changes to the US policy in the Middle-East because Bush has certainly brought the policy to its lowest ebb.
