At last, the letter from LSH {'Outsiders, stay out of MCA politics!' Nov 13) has confirmed my fear - MCA is now, officially, Malaysian Chinese Arrogant party.

However, I am somehow not surprised with the party-loyalist attitude shown by LSH as that is the main reason why Chinese Malaysians are isolating themselves from MCA mainstream politics.

For the record, I am a lifetime member of MCA and I have voted for Barisan Nasional, and sorry to say, my decision to vote BN has nothing to do with my president, Dr Ling Liong Sik, but solely based on my appreciation to the great job BN has done in the past decades.

Please permit me to remind that MCA, in Malaysia politics, cannot stand alone without the umbrella of BN, and I am not wrong to say that many Chinese in Malaysia are actually more loyal to the prime minister than Ling himself. At the very least, Ling won't be in the cabinet without the consent of the prime minister, right?

The writer said MCA is rich enough to buy dailies like Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press , but the reality is that MCA won't be able to complete the deal without the green light from Dr Mahathir Mohamad. And yet, LSH think it was the wealth of MCA, thanks to the leadership of Ling, which had handed Nanyang Press to MCA on a sliver platter.

For the record, again, we do mind our business, and our business is to safeguard and salvage the remaining pride in Chinese Malaysian legacy because we do not want our children and grandchildren to be chided and laughed at for having some ancestors who were seen throwing chairs and slinging mud at their own race.

The Chinese population is declining fast, the writer reasoned, and we should stand under a strong and united MCA to protect our rights against the encroachment of Malay chauvinism and Islamic fundamentalism. I agree. But how about MCA chauvinism? Can we fight against MCA chauvinism, or MCA chauvinists?

How about MCA fundamentalism? Isn't that equally dangerous for the survival of Chinese Malaysians because the 100 percent loyalty concept preached by some MCA leaders is affecting our critical thinking?

Please keep in mind that Chinese Malaysians have options - Gerakan, DAP or even Keadilan. If MCA fundamentalists still think that MCA is the only 'guardian' of Chinese Malaysians, think again!
