Stolen phone cables making life a misery
I am one of the unfortunate residents of Apartment Abdullah Hukum 1 off Jalan Bangsar. On Dec 11, 2008, certain inconsiderate people cut and stole the phone cables that belonged to this apartment block.
Since then, our home phone lines have been dead, the Internet is not available, and for those working from home, their fax machines have been unusable.
I approached Telekom Malaysia for help and was given an official letter saying that City Hall has been notified of the matter. Unfortunately, City Hall does not have enough funds with which to replace the stolen cables.
I have also approached the management committee of Abdullah Hukum Apartments but to no avail.
So, at the end, I am stuck at home, not able to use the Internet to connect to my office network, since I work from home most of the time. I am also unable to receive and send faxes and more worryingly, in the case of an emergency, I won’t be able to call for help because my home phone line is dead.
I have to go downstairs in search of a public phone every time I need to make a call. Despite all this, I am still paying my monthly phone and Internet bills.
I really hope the authorities will get to the bottom of this matter as soon as possible. Hopefully the MP of the area would be able to expedite the resolution for all of us.
