Justice must not only be done, but it must also be seen to be done, as the old adage goes. However, the appointment of Abdul Gani Patail as the head of the prosecution division in the Attorney-General's Chambers is not only a mockery of justice, but is an ' ill' decision to say the least.

First of all the man is a bad lawyer, as we saw in the trial of Anwar Ibrahim where he could not even hold a consistent argument for his case. How can we trust such a man to prosecute real criminals, who most certainly will have many lawyers to defend them?

Secondly, he is the laughing stock of the world judicial community - this is the guy who actually hauled a mattress to the court as evidence.

Thirdly, he is, or seen to be, biased, as we have seen many times in the way the whole case against Anwar was treated.

Fourthly this man has been accused of fabricating evidence in the case against Anwar, which to date have not been investigated.

My only hope is that his return to the judicial system do not usher in a 'new' era of political and selective prosecutions.
