The authorities in the province of Udorn Thani, Thailand, have passed a law that fines women who wear revealing and tight clothing on the grounds that it has led to crimes against women.

The Cambodian Prime Minister has decided to close bars in his country because drunkenness has also led to all kinds of crimes and disorder.

Both these two countries are very Buddhist in outlook and practice.

I can imagine what the local press would say if it had been the Terengganu or Kelantan government that had passed such rulings.

I can also imagine the reaction from groups that have criticised both the Barisan Nasional and PAS governments, such as accusations that non-Muslims are being deprived of their right to live their lifestyles. Much of the criticisms would also come from Muslims themselves who can see nothing right about the way Terengganu or Kelantan is governed.

I would like to see some reaction from these critics to the new rules in the above two countries.
