Thanks, Salbiah Ahmad, for your article 'Freeing Palestine' (Nov 25) that has links to help those of us who find ourselves overwhelmed due to time constraints to search for the references!

As a Malaysian who has been living for a substantial part of her life overseas, I would just like to say that it seems to me that the Palestinian issue is slowly becoming more of a Muslim and not just an Arab issue.

In the Middle East, journalists are getting out of the 'Arab' mode and into the 'Arab and other Muslims' one. In fact, somebody I personally know, told one of the supreme leaders of Hizbollah, may Allah grant bigger victory to them, to speak more in the latter mode, and he graciously acknowledged it.

I would also like to share with a thoughtful writer as yourself an anecdote. In the last Hajj season, it was said that there was a stronger and tangible presence of sympathy for the Palestinian suffering with the hujjaj chanting salawat and du'a for Palestine. As you know it rained in Mina on the second day of stoning and in Makkah al-Mukkaramah, it poured and there was flash flood in some streets. Allah is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

May Palestine be liberated soon and peace and justice be established not only for the Muslims, but also Christians and the true followers of Moses (PUBH).
