A proud constituent
As a resident of Batu Gajah, I feel our member of Parliament has been unfairly victimised. For being outspoken, she has been heavily penalised.
Many MPs have been suspended before but to be suspended without allowance is most high-handed and inhuman.
What crime has she committed? Rais Yatim was also disrespectful but who is to judge him? Everyone knows whom he is acting for.
Ms Fong must have been a major irritant for actively questioning major issues and thus must be taught a lesson.
Ms Fong has been very diligent in carrying out her duties as an MP. As a new MP, she wrote to four schools in her constituency as she wanted to visit them as part of her work.
She was told politicians (read 'opposition') are not allowed to visit schools. This was obviously biased because the state assembly representatives of Lahat (MCA) and Pasir Panjang (MIC) were allowed school visits on separate occasions. I wonder when Malaysia can have a level playing field for politicians.
Opposition politicians can 'enjoy' publicity only when they are in trouble. In a way, she has become more well known because of her suspension. The more severe the penalty, the greater her stature.
I am really proud of our MP for standing up against pressure and for sticking to her principles, unlike some lesser politicians. Keep it up!
