UN Special Envoy headed by Razali Ismail has done a excellent job thus far in attempting to secure release for human rights activist Aung Sang Suu Kyi. It will certainly put Malaysia on the map and confirm that it is a civil society that seeks to promote democracy and human rights in the world. If indeed Razali is successful in securing the release of Suu Kyi, his next mission should be here at home in Malaysia.

He would do well to carry the torch of a civil society and democratic nation for Malaysia and work to securing the release of our own home-grown prisoners. The opposition members who have been jailed under the Internal Security Act and the prisoner of conscience, Anwar Ibrahim, are the next world leaders incarcerated for their believe and stand on justice.

I think we should bring Razali back to work at home and negotiate with our very own strongman who has ruled Malaysia for two decades.
