On Samy visits ailing Hindraf leader

Barathi Tamil: The Hindraf leader has been duped by MIC's tactic again. Why are the Hindraf leaders looking for sympathy and for their own gain? Why can't they wait and see?

The Pakatan government is only one year old but already we can see a lot of difference. Why should we Indians be greedy and look after our own selves only?

Why can't the Hindraf leaders understand this? I'm a Hindraf hardcore supporter but now, I'm really disappointed with the behavior of some Hindraf leaders.

What is wrong with PKR's Manikumar standing in Bukit Selambau? He's also an Indian, educated and young. Why are these people going against another Indian? Sad to see this happen again.

Samy is fishing for votes by visiting Thanethiran in hospital. That doesn't mean Samy Vellu is a nice guy. He swindled all our money yet the Indians still fall for him.

I hope we Indians will keep our spirit up and fight for the right leader. Hindraf is not a political party so why should it be so concerned over who PKR chose for Bukit Selambau.

Looks like Thanethiran is aiming be a politician rather than fighting for Hindraf. We want the spirit of Hindraf to be there again. Let's all Indians fight for the same purpose.

Poor Indian : It is a shame that none of the PKR or the PR members actually visited Hindraf national coordinator RS Thanenthiran, who has been hospitalised after suffering a heart attack on Saturday.

In this sense, Samy Vellu proves that he is seasoned leader who knows how to win the hearts and minds of his opponents.

This was similar to the step taken by him in trying to patch up with the late Tan Sri M Panditan of the IPF party which later saw both leaders hugging and singing praises of each other after years of bitter fighting.

Let us hope that this will not happen this time as it would means that Hindraf has also sold off the Indians because of some of its leaders who are more concern about power and positions than about serving the community.

On Hindraf will not help PKR's Manikumar

Appum: Originally, I had very high respect and admiration for Hindraf who came out to fight for the marginalised Indians.

Their leaders claimed they were not interested in politics and were not political.

So why were they so keen to field a candidate to stand in Bukit. Selambau and now they are sulking because their candidate was not selected? What is your direction?

If you want to contest in the political field, then register yourself as a political party and state clearly that you are fighting for Indians exclusively.

Let us see you clearly what your stand is. Don't hide under the skirt.

If you want to be a pressure group then stay as one and don't talk about participating actively in politics.

Sayu Sayme: From raising their voice at the BN government, they now show an unhappy face at PKR.

It is just a matter of time and they will lost their direction.

In the end, what will they achieve from their fight other than getting some publicity?

On Hindraf increasingly acting, sounding like Umno

Surendhiran Gopal: Hindraf was originally fighting for a good cause and that was the plight of the Indian Malaysians. We were all excited and supported them.

Looking at the movement now, however, they are already demanding for a place in parliament. PKR's Manikumar is educated.

He may have not much experience in politics but he has brains. We want people with brains.

Just because another person is from Hindraf and has some political experience does not mean that that person is capable.

After all Mr Manikumar is of Indian origin. Give him a chance. Respect the decision from the PKR head.

The way things are going, Hindraf will lose its respect and the people will slowly stop supporting them.

I hope that there are a good and responsible person within Hindraf who will continue to fight for our rights through the opposition party until the movement is considered legal.

Please remain calm for the sake of Indians. There are already thugs and robbers on the streets who are spoiling the Indian name and I sincerely hope Hindraf will not fall into the same category .

On PKR's Kalai quits over by-election snub

Raveenthran: Its very sad to note that Mr Kalai is throwing a tantrum for not being selected.

It's even more sad to note that some from the Indian community are so preoccupied in sabotaging PKR's campaign for their own selfish gains.

It is very shameful of Mr Kalai to forgo ethics. Please don't fight only for the Indians, fight for all Malaysians. This is our country. We have had enough of race politics.

This is not a great country yet, but it will be when everyone sees themselves as Malaysians.

On 'Indian M'sians, let us stay united'

P Sritharan: The above is a timely even though belated call. Previously, I noted that it is to the disadvantage of the Indian Malaysians to be scattered through more than five political parties when their population is about only two million.

In fact there no single parliament constituency or state assembly which has an Indian majority.

This means, the Indians need to depend on the political parties of other races for their political survival.

The Indians are the minority in all the major political parties except for the MIC , PPP and IPF.

To boost their political mileage and to strengthen their negotiation power, they need to become members of only one of two political parties ie, a party in the ruling coalition or a party in the opposition coalition.

If it is serious about the Indian Malaysian cause, then ‘Makkal Sakthi' (formerly known as Hindraf) should align themselves with the ruling coalition.

It is easier to get what we want if we are within the ruling coalition. However, if their demands are not met, then they have a valid and genuine reason to crossover to the opposition coalition.
