Ex-Malaysian: The most recent appointment of Najib is , sad to say, the biggest travesty of all taking into account the scandals and accusations involving him which have been left unaccounted for and unanswered.

The country is entering an age where ' spin' appears to have triumphed over fact and reality. The 1 Malaysia doctrine advanced by Najib is classic spin and will amount to nothing more than pure rhetoric.

If an impartial and independent analysis was undertaken of all that Najib has achieved for the nation throughout his political life to date, the result will not be surprising to all those Malaysians who are in the know.

In other words, effectively nothing of note to be proud of.

Corruption continues to be rife in the country and Abdullah was abysmal in making good on his promises to eradicate this menace in society.

To then have Khairy Jamaluddin elected to be the head of Umno Youth when he had just been admonished by the very same party he now represents as a key member of the executive body, is farcical to say the least.

Malaysia has indeed turned into a nation bereft of any moral principles. Will Najib's appointment be a new dawn? Are you kidding me although I, along with many others would love to be proven wrong.

The country needs a complete overhaul in terms of how the government is seen to be governing in a fair , transparent and open minded manner.

We have the best opportunity in decades to see to it that this transformation takes place and in a democratic structure like what Malaysia professes to imbue and this can only take place through the ballot box.

I, as a former Malaysian, remain hopeful, albeit only slightly, that the ordinary citizens of this proud nation will be given the respect they fully deserve in terms of equal rights in every aspect of life in the country.

On Najib's leadership offers a new dawn for nation

Earthwalker: I find it hard to share the writer's enthusiasm for a number of reasons.

The writer laments that Najib has been judged even before he has a chance to introduce his brand of politics etc. That's the thing - we had a taste of his brand of politics when he 'stole' the Perak state government.

And please don't give us the 'Anwar started it' excuse - Anwar and the people are two different entities and why should Perakians pay for Anwar's 'sin'?

Since when did an 'impeccable pedigree as the son and nephew of two former prime ministers...' make a person suitable for the post of prime minster? Are you saying it's a hereditary trait?

Add honesty, integrity, moral courage to your list of 'perceptive etc'. I may even take away 'impeccably dressed!'

The 'rumours' as Najib and the writer likes to call them are really nothing more than unanswered questions. Any reasonable person who doesn't mind exerting a little thinking will ask these questions.

I notice the use of the phrase 'hatred of the government' in the letter. I believe there is a difference between 'hatred of the government' and 'hatred of the government under BN'.

I sincerely I hope the writer is not upbeat simply because he is 'new'. He and his 'One Malaysia' are not new.

On MCA tells Najib to create a 2nd DPM post

Gooi Hsiao Leung: It is a known fact that all major policy decisions today are dictated by Umno and one only has to look at the number of ministerial seats allocated to MCA (4) and MIC (2) compared to 20+ ministerial seats given to Umno.

The unequal bargaining position which MCA, MIC and other BN ‘partners' have with Umno in the coalition is obvious.

The latest appeal by MCA for a second deputy prime minister seat will most certainly not transpire.

If MCA, Gerakan, and MIC wish to genuinely represent the interests of their various communities, they should leave BN immediately and contest as independent parties in the next general election (and re-negotiate their terms and conditions for future cooperation with Umno if they wish to).

Failing which, MCA and the other component parties will only ever be subservient to the master Umno party.

Sayu Sayme: MCA have now said this. Najib will probably say he will to look into it or just keep quiet for a while. The Chinese will be happy.

Someone from Umno will say then ‘no!'

After the three by-elections, there may another big fat ‘no' from Najib to close the chapter. Lives will then be back to normal.

It may be mentioned again by another Chinese politician when there is another by-election in the future. The cycle goes on...

On Rais: Najib will pick those with clean records

Mat Al-Jajawi: Why is it necessary for Rais to speak on behalf of Najib on who the latter will pick for his cabinet?

Is Rais trying to hint that Najib should pick him as he is seen to be clean although he lost in his bid for an Umno supreme council seat?

Rais is perhaps also trying to tell us that those who lost in the Umno elections are all clean and did not try to bribe any delegate, and so lost the contest.

To me it's a desperate attempt by Rais to curry favour with Najib so that he remains in the new Najib cabinet. How pathetic!

Rais should follow Shahrir Samad and submit his resignation as a cabinet minister because he has been rejected by the Umno delegates.

Please make way for new faces so that there will be fresh energy injected into the team.

On Mahathir, wife back in Umno

Anne Mathews: Only the Umno cronies will accept Dr M back. As for the others, many do not know what is he up to, including the new PM.

He has too many ideas including one of which is to groom his son, to be next PM. This man is capable of anything.

If he had resigned and joined back, that means he has something up his sleeve.

The public should beware of all his gimmicks Sometimes he thinks that without him, Malaysia can never be well-ruled.

Be a gentleman, if you have retired, stay retired. Because of him, BN is divided, he forgets that too.

lvbala: Well congratulations, Tun Mahathir! I personally think it is too early for your decision.

But at the same time, it is too early to judge the new PM on whether he is a man of his word. The going back to Umno by Tun does not mean Umno is back on track.

Tun admitted his mistake in choosing Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. He can say the same thing too about the new PM.

Maybe he is trying to prove to the world that he is still in power. Najib is his choice. Najib can be considered as Tun's crony too.

This coming back to Umno will make it easier for him to achieve his motive - that is to chase Khairy out and bring back his son into the scene.
