Newly elected Batang Ai state assemblyperson Malcolm Lamoh seems to get off to a good start.

He has declared that those who did not vote for him in the just-concluded by-election would also get his attention.

Mussen assured that development and social welfare projects would be implemented in every part of his constituency without any favouritism.

“Even voters in the four polling districts who supported PKR would not be neglected,” he said.

“Let’s get over the political differences and start to identify development projects that will benefit everyone in Batang Ai,” he told the Borneo Post .

“I will visit all residents in the districts to share with them how they can benefit from cooperating with the BN government,” Mussen added.

Fixing run-down houses

jawah gerang malcolm mussen batang ai by election 280309 In the April 7 by-election, PKR managed to win in four polling districts namely Sayat, Jela, Sempang and Gugu. However, its candidate Jawah Gerang lost to Mussen by a majority of 1,854 votes.

“Although voters in the four polling districts voted the opposition, I believe they still need the BN government for development,” Mussen said, adding that he would also visit longhouses in the constituency to thank the people and to announce funds and grants to fix any run-down houses.

The new state rep explained that he was in the midst of obtaining information on the houses that need urgent repair. “When it comes, it will be in the form of building materials such as wood and roofing.”

Mussen said he would seek the help of Lubok Antu MP William Nyallau Badak, a PRS supreme council member, to deliver development projects where it is needed the most.

On the question of setting up a bank in Lubok Antu, Mussen said that it could only happen after all security issues are resolved.
