MCA never endorsed or authorised its deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek to initiate talks with PAS vice-president Husam Musa on the Perak political crisis.

ong tee keat MCA president Ong Tee Keat said the party leadership also did not meet to discuss the talks (between Chua and Husam) but "was only briefed by him (Chua) yesterday on the meeting."

"There was no meeting convened to sanction such a meeting (between Chua and Husam)," he was quoted as saying by Bernama .

chua soi lek Commenting on the meeting yesterday, Chua said he and Husham agreed that there was too much politicking in the country.

"The rakyat are tired of politicians. The time has come that we should move forward for the good of the nation and its people

"Both of us agreed that protracted politicking in the Perak issue will not do anybody any good, especially the rakyat," he had said.

Chua’s son and Labis MB Tee Yong as well as MCA central committee member Loh Seng Kok were also present at the meeting in Johor.

Let the courts decide

However, when asked on MCA's stand on the Perak issue, Ong said it was best to leave it to the courts to unravel the political puzzle in the state.

On Barisan Nasional's decision not to contest the Penanti state by-election end of the month, he said the decision did not mean that the ruling coalition was cowing out due to opposition pressure.

"In fact, they can say anything they like. It's nothing new to me. We don't want to be dictated by their (opposition's) political game," he said, referring to claims by the opposition that BN feared losing the by-election in Penang.

He also reiterated that BN as the government will not dance to the tune of the opposition, instead it would continue to focus on performance and delivery for the people.
