DAP's Sungkai state assemblyperson A Sivanesan was today given a friendly advice by MIUP president KS Nallakaruppan to pay more attention in performing his duties as an elected representative rather than making false statements.

nallakaruppan and miup party 211107 Nallakaruppan made this remark to retort the DAP politician who had erroneously attributed several damaging statements to the Malaysian Indian United Party president in a Tamil daily.

"On Tuesday, he had commented in a news report carried by Tamil Nesan that I had accused the Indian community of lying about their marginalisation in this country.

"That is not true at all. What I had said was that the opposition leaders were continuously lying about the plight of the Indians in this country and that was reported in Malaysiakini ," he said in a statement today.

"For him to blindly accuse me of accusing the entire community is totally wrong. What is his agenda? I think he is trying to discredit me and my party," he added.

Nallakaruppan said that Sivanesan's remarks had caused anger among many MIUP members.

"His falsehood is apparent to my members but others might think that I have defamed and ridiculed the entire Indian community.

"I hope he stops doing this sort of things. Perhaps he should read first before making such comments," he said.

I am no political greenhorn

Nallakaruppan also took exception to Sivanesan's remarks that he (Nallakaruppan) had no right to comment on political issues as he was new to it.

"What does he know about politics? I have been in politics way before him. He should check his facts first. He should also listen more to the grassroots to know that we are doing much for the community and have not neglected them," he said.

Nallakaruppan said Sivanesan should stop making such ill-informed statements to the media as "it would only embarrass his party DAP".

"He should ask his secretary-general Lim Guan Eng about my political experience," added the former PKR leader who left PKR to form his own pro-BN party in 2007.

On Sunday Nallakaruppan had warned the opposition politicians against lying to the people that the Indians in this country were still being sidelined.

He had said that these opposition leaders were cheating and telling lies to the Indian community even though the Barisan Nasional government was taking steps solve the issue.

However Sivanesan responded the next day by stating that Nallakaruppan should not be talking about such issues as he was still a political novice.

He also said that Nallakaruppan had tarnished the Indian community by labelling them as a whole as lying about their plight.
