The Indonesian police have conducted a preliminary physical examination on former Indonesian teen model, Manohara Odelia Pinot, who has alleged that she was abused by her husband, Kelantan prince Tengku Muhammad Fakhry.

Manohara Odelia Pino, 17, Indonesian local daily, Surya , reported her mother, Daisy Fajarina, as saying that Manohara was at the police headquarters in the republic for more than 12 hours.

The Inspector-General of Police, General Abubakar Nata Prawira, said Manohara came to his office last Thursday, accompanied by her mother and lawyer, Elza Syarief. The lawyer was present throughout the entire examination.

Manohara’s mother said: “The police asked about the kind of abuses experienced by my daughter, especially abuses involving used syringes.

“The police also conducted a physical examination on areas where scars from the abuses were found.”

Meanwhile, Elza said that Manohara has yet to undergo a thorough medical check-up for injuries and wounds because she has not signed a police report.

Thorough check-up after signing report

She explained that unlike a normal physical examination, the thorough medical check-up is only conducted after a police report has been made and signed.

“Manohara will undergo the thorough medical check-up after she has signed a police report.”

Meanwhile, Musni Umar, a sociologist with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, told Kompas.com that Manohara’s claim - which had received wide media coverage - appears to have been accepted as the truth and this may arouse Indonesian hostility towards Malaysia.

She added that the Sultan of Kelantan should help resolve this issue and not allow it to linger on.

“This situation should not be ignored as it could affect bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries. Manohara’s claims should be scrutinised and resolved through legal means,” she explained.
