Pahang DAP wants Barisan Alternatif to be mindful of mutual ties before fielding a candidate for the forthcoming Ketari state seat by-election.

BA should be aware of ties with DAP at state and federal levels although DAP was no longer in the opposition front, Pahang DAP secretary Leong Ngah Ngah said today.

"I hope BA leaders at state and federal levels will consider the ties existing between us before making a decision to field a candidate," a Bernama report quoted him as saying.

He was commenting on the decision of BA's Youth secretariat which had pressured their natonal leaders to field a candidate.

Leong said there would be split votes and imminent defeat for DAP should BA decide to field their own candidate.

However, BA's decision would not jeopardise operations of DAP's election machinery, the report quoted him as saying.

The Ketari seat fell vacant following the death of its assemblyman Loke Koon Kam on March 3.
