The New Straits Times led with Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail's confirmation that political aide Teoh Beng Hock's sudden death report had been submitted to the Shah Alam High Court. This was also confirmed by Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar, suggesting that the inquest will probably start next week.

The Star 's lead story was on the proposed private pension fund targeting two million self-employed persons and those outside the current pension scheme. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nor Mohamed Yakcop said the new fund will be managed by new fund management firms licensed by the Securities Commission.

The Sun led with the MCA ministers and deputy ministers uniting in backing its president Ong Tee Keat in view of threats and condemnation faced by their leader in dealing with the RM12.5 billion Port Klang Free Zone saga.

Bahasa newspapers

Berita Harian led with the death of two snatch-thief brothers who met with an accident after stealing a female executive's handbag in Persiaran Kerjaya, Glenmaria yesterday afternoon.

It also led with the news of film director Yasmin Ahmad being in coma after collapsing at Sri Pentas yesterday.

Utusan Malaysia's main story was a photo of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak celebrating his 56th birthday. It also led on the possibility of children and senior citizens being barred from performing pilgrimage to Mekah for fear of the H1N1 virus.

Tamil newspapers

All three Tamil dailies - Tamil Nesan, Makkal Osai and Malaysia Nanban - led with the news of the arrest of MIC Youth wing leaders, including T Mohan, in Penang for alleged illegal assembly in support for Kampung Buah Pala residents.

Tamil Nesan also had a story of a PKR division leader urging the Indians not to trust PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Editorial

The New Straits Times editorial led off with Najib's commitment in seeking the truth in Teoh's sudden death. It reported that when doubts and suspicious constrain sensible governance, only the truth might set it free.

Berita Harian 's editorial suggested the need for public utility company Tenaga Nasional Berhad on relying on nuclear energy to provide cheap resource to generate electricity.

Tamil Nesan urged the government to pay more attention to the tourism industry.

Malaysia Nanban commented the government for not raising the electricity tariff.
