MIC Youth coordinator T Mohan has announced his candidacy for the party's Youth chief post. The elections will be held on Aug 16.

The presence of Youth adviser Vel Paari, the son of party president Samy Vellu at the event, is widely seen as an endorsement of Mohan's aspirations.

Mohan will vie against Samy Vellu's nephew SP Muthuvello, who announced his candidacy two weeks ago.

Mohan was appointed Youth coordinator by Samy Vellu last year, after former Youth chief SA Vigneswaran stepped down.
