The Star led with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's short term targets for the six National Key Result Areas, including improving public transport in the medium term, reducing crime rates and combating corruption.

The New Straits Times headed with the government's priority in fighting street crime as the first of the six National Key Result Areas and Key Performance Indicators. The set target is to reduce crime cases by 20 percent by the end of next year.

Bahasa newspapers

Berita Harian also led with Najib's six National Key Result Areas, with the premier saying that the country's development plans should be announced and made known to the public in order to evaluate proposed targets.

Utusan Malaysia 's lead story was also on Najib's six National Key Result Areas, as well as former Sabah police commissioner Ramli Yusuff being acquitted from corruption charge yesterday. He was accused of using a police aircraft for his personal interest two years ago.

Tamil newspapers

Malaysia Nanban led with Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng rejecting any meetings with MIC president S Samy Vellu over the Kampung Buah Pala issue.

Makkal Osai 's top story was on former MIC deputy president S Subramaniam hitting out at Samy Vellu over the Maika issue.

Tamil Nesan 's front page story included the decision by MIC Youth wing coordinator T Mohan to contest for the top post in the wing in coming party polls later this month.

All the dailies also reported on Prime Minister Najib's targets to be achieved by 2010 under the national Key Result Areas (KRAs), with a prominent target being the reduction of street crime by 20 percent.

Editorials

The New Straits Times editorial addressed the issue of human trafficking, concluding that both effective cross border cooperation and a willingness to dispense with diplomatic niceties are needed to resolve this problem.

Berita Harian 's editorial was also on Najib's six National Key Result Areas, mentioning that these National Key Result Areas required complete commitment in order to be effective.

Tamil Nesan commented on filial piety and noted on the increasing cases of dumping of aged and infirm parents.
