MCA Team B petitions for EGM
newsflash
Three MCA team B leaders today submitted a written requisition for an extraordinary general meeting on behalf of 810 delegates. The submission was submitted by Youth assistant secretary-general Liow Tiong Lai, central committee members Tang See Hang and Perak state assemblyman Lee Chee Liong to the MCA deputy chief of administration at party headquarter this noon.
The EGM seeks to set up a nine-member committee to verify the controversial membership list and prepare a new schedule for party elections.
According to the MCA constitution, an EGM may be held at any time if requisition is made in writing by at least one-third of some 2,400 existing central delegates
Team B leaders have been raising concerns on the new list of 138,000 members approved by the central committee late last year.
MCA concluded its branch elections on Sunday and will conduct divisional polls on April 28. The annual general assembly has been scheduled on June 29 where central leaders will be voted in for a three-year term.
The party central committee members are now having their meeting where this issue is expected to be raised.
