Two police officers from Bukit Aman today took a statement from DAP Socialist Youth chief Anthony Loke at his office at the Lobak state constituency service centre in Seremban today.

dap morality protest at dbkl 130406 anthony loke sweetheart Loke, who is also the member of parliament for Rasah and Lobak state assemblyman, said the officers were Supt Victor Sanjos and ASP Hazizi A Samad from the computer content investigation unit of the cyber and multimedia crime investigation division.

"They came to my office about 10am and took my statement over two and a half hours. They took my statement as a witness.

“Lawyer Siow Kim Leong, who is the chairman of the DAP legal bureau, was present when the statement was taken," Loke told reporters here.

He said the statement was taken after he had made a police report at the Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 10 to deny that he had said words or sentences that insulted Islam and the Perak sultan.

"I deny vehemently that the statement was written by me. I have never written anything that had insulted Islam or the Sultan of Perak.”

DAP vows to sue media organisations

Meanwhile, the DAP is suing the media over alleged libellous reports on statements on Islam purportedly made by certain DAP leaders.

Its secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said legal action would be taken against several media companies over the reports, particularly Utusan Malaysia.

"I have asked the DAP leaders concerned to take immediate action against the media responsible.

"The media claimed that we have insulted Islam, but the party leaders have never ridiculed any religion, including Islam," he told a press conference in Penang.

NONE Lim, who is also Penang Chief Minister, said the DAP respected all religions in the country and hoped the issue would not be prolonged.

"We don't want to prolong the issue, lest we get more defamatory statements against the party. If that happens, we will meet in court," he said without specifying the number of lawsuits to be filed by the party.

Lim said the party was not afraid of police investigation into the matter as they believed they were on the side of truth.

"What do we have to worry about? We did not issue statements insulting any religion. The police can investigate us," he said.

Meanwhile, he said, the state government had managed to reduce the cost of managing solid waste by about RM33 million for the next three years.

He said the large amount of savings was because they had set a new rate for the contractor involved.
