The state government is doing its best to solve the frequent power disruptions in the state which had affected the business community as well as households, especially those in the east coast of Sabah.

Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) deputy president Yee Moh Chai said today the government was very concerned and measures were being taken to overcome the problem.

"We know we have a responsibility to ensure that the power supply would be sufficient, stable and affordable not only for the city but throughout the state, including in the rural areas.

"That is always the policy of both the state and the federal governments. If you look at the way the government is operating, all projects had been geared towards that objective.

"Unfortunately, due to increasing demand for electricity supply because of prosperity and development and population growth, coupled with the fact that some of the power-generating plants are out of date, we are experiencing frequent power interruptions," he said.

Yee, who is state minister of resource development, told reporters this after opening the Tawau ICT Fiesta 2009.
