Newly-appointed ambassador to the United States and Rompin member of parliament, Jamaluddin Jarjis, said he plans to return once every two months to meet the people in his constituency and solve their problems.

NONE "I will also return once every three months when Parliament is in session and if there is an Umno supreme council meeting I will take leave to return to attend if necessary," he said.

Jamaluddin, who was former Science, Technology and Innovation minister, said he thanked certain quarters, including the opposition, who voiced their concern that his appointment would cause the people of Rompin to be neglected.

"God willing, I will not neglect the voters as I will use media channels like Facebook, Skype and Twitter and put up my own website to contact them here," he told reporters after a ceremony to hand over Affin Islamic Bank Berhad 'zakat' houses and Teras Dara Konsortium Sdn Bhd buisness 'zakat' money to the poor at Kampung Rekoh Baru here today.

On his role as ambassador with minister status, Jamaluddin among his main duties was to enhance ties between the two countries besides attracting more investments and bringing about transfer of new technologies from the US to Malaysia.
