Senator T Murugiah's position as a Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department will be decided by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, said Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

kayveas murugiah ppp "He (the prime minister) is the one who determines the position of anyone in the Cabinet, whether based on the decision made by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) and partly based on the information given by PPP president (M Kayveas).

"This matter has been confirmed. The prime minister will make the actual decision," he added.

Last week, Kayveas was declared as the legitimate PPP president following a thorough investigation by the ROS.

Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, when making the announcement, said the investigation also discovered that the expulsion of Murugiah as a member of the PPP was in accordance with the party constitution.

S'gor gov't directive

Asked on the Selangor government's circular prohibiting its officers from being interviewed by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers outside their respective offices, Muhyiddin said Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail had issued a statement on the matter and it should be taken as the view of the government.

NONE "I don't think that should stop them (MACC officers) from doing what they are doing in terms of trying to deal with the issue of corruption," he said.

Yesterday, Abdul Gani said he would be filing an application in court this week to seek a declaration on the directive.

Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim had issued the directive to all state representatives to meet with MACC officers only at the state secretariat and during office hours.

Abdul Gani said that he wanted the court to interpret if the directive was against the country's laws.

"The MACC's functions are governed by certain laws so this directive is purely an administrative direction and I have decided with my colleagues that within this week we will file an application to declare it null and void," he added.
