Two reformasi supporters who have been on a hunger strike to protest the continued incarceration of six Internal Security Act detainees were hospitalised last night due do dehydration.

The duo  Badrul Hisham Saharin, 26 and Muhamad Hidir Khalid, 27  were among 15 people who have been fasting since Wednesday outside the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Badrul was sent to the Islamic Medical Centre at 11.20pm while Hizir to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital at 11pm by ambulance.

Abolish ISA Movement (GMI) committee member Zahir Hassan said the duo suffered from dehydration.

"We are not certain of their condition but they appear to be serious" he told malaysiakini .

The hunger strike started on April 10 in conjunction with the first anniversary of the sixs detention.

The six  Keadilan leaders Tian Chua, Mohd Ezam Mohd Nor, Saari Sungib, Dr Badrulamin Baharon, Lokman Noor Adam and malaysiakini columnist-cum-filmmaker Hishamuddin Rais  are also on a hunger strike.

The detainees, who are being held for two years at the Kamunting Detention Centre in Perak for allegedly plotting to overthrow the government through militant means are demanding that they be released or charged in court.

Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) commissioner Prof Hamdan Adnan visited the six today and found them to be fine.

However, the commissioner expressed concern that if the strike prolongs it could have an adverse effect on them.

They are fine and still sharp but their condition has to be monitored, he said.
