Former MIC deputy president S Subramanian has criticised party boss S Samy Vellu for dilly-dallying on when he would hand over the Indian-based party to his deputy.

"After that, he said he will step down after training the elected deputy president for one year, but later he said he will step down after completing his term in 2012 , and then it will be 2015. This shows that he is unprofessional and is dilly-dallying," he said.

Samy Vellu was elected uncontested as the MIC president in March.

Subra describes Samy as childish

Subramaniam also slammed Samy Vellu's move to campaign for one of the three candidates running for the deputy presidency at the party polls on Sept 12 as “childish”.

"He (Samy Vellu) should have nominated himself as a candidate for the deputy president's post, then it will be okay for him to campaign," he told reporters.

Subramaniam is one of the three candidates for the post of deputy president, the others being incumbent G Palanivel and vice-president S Sothinathan.

Subramaniam said Samy Vellu's open support for his favoured candidates and rejection of those he did not like would put pressure on the delegates and cause a break-up in the party.
