MCA president Ong Tee Keat has been given three days by his opponents to meet and discuss ways to consolidate proposed extraordinary general meeting (EGM) resolutions that are to be tabled.

ong tee keat meeting penang 300809 01 Should Ong (right) refuse, the Central Delegates EGM Action Committee, aligned to sacked deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek, will push ahead to hold a separate EGM to table their resolutions.

Currently, both factions are trying to avoid holding two EGMs, which would result in central delegates having to make their way to Kuala Lumpur twice.

Both sides must meet

At a press conference this morning, action committee representative Tan Chai Ho said both factions must meet and discuss the possibility of holding a "two-in-one EGM".

"We cannot unveil our resolutions first as it would be a disadvantage to us as Ong can amend his resolutions after seeing ours," he said.

Tan also criticised party secretary-general Wong Foon Meng for failing to present Ong's resolutions when the duo held a meeting yesterday .

"I am 100 percent sure that Wong said he did not have it," said Tan, adding that Ong's camp appear to be lacking in sincerity to resolve the potential impasse.

However, yesterday Wong claimed that he had Ong's resolutions at hand but was unaware that the two camps were supposed to exchange notes yesterday.

NONE Chua's (left) supporters are hoping to call for an EGM in order to reinstate him in the party and as deputy president.

The group is also hoping to pass a no-confidence vote against Ong.

On other hand, Ong is calling for an EGM on Sept 27 to seek a referendum on the party leadership's decision to sack Chua.

Ong is also seeking an endorsement on his handling of the Port Klang Free Zone scandal.
