The ‘unruly behaviour’ at last Saturday’s dialogue over the proposed relocation of a Hindu temple to Section 23, Shah Alam, is proof that some residents were not interested to talk in the first place, said PKR.

section 23 temple dialogue 050909 In a statement today, its president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said that they “just wanted to act wildly” towards some of the panelists including Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad and state exco Rodziah Ismail.

“The dialogue session was marred by chaos and violence created by this group, and it is very disappointing especially it happened during this holy month of Ramadan,” she said.

She went on to say that the situation has gone from bad to worse after the ‘cow head’ protest in front of the state secretariat more than a week ago.

Quoting a verse from the Quran, Wan Azizah said Islam teaches all human beings to respect others regardless their religion and race, so that they can learn about one another.

wan azizah “Allah also tells us that it is not about race or descent, but it is about piousness that matters at the end of the day,” she said.

“Although the group has shown unruly behaviour, this will not deter our efforts to make Malaysia more just for everyone, regardless of their background.”

The public dialogue organised by the Shah Alam City Council had turned into a shouting match .

Also heard above the din were “you should be ashamed of being a Malay” and “don't be like a cow led by a ring through the nose”.

At the end of the two-hour event, Khalid decided to shelve the relocation plan until a more suitable site is identified.
