‘The fact is he was elected, resigned, and re-elected through the assembly. The voice of the grassroots has spoken, loud and clear. That's what democracy is all about.'
Summer : I respect the courage and swift action of Dr Chua Soi Lek in dealing with his DVD issue. He has since been given a mandate by the MCA central delegates. The fact is he was elected, resigned, and re-elected through the assembly.
The voice of the grassroots has spoken, loud and clear. That's what democracy is all about. You are where you are because of people. You leave when you are no longer needed. He is still very much needed in MCA during this trying time.
Hinku : It seems that that values are fast depreciating in the Chinese community in Malaysia. A tainted leader can still garner so much support to pursue his political ambitions after his immoral doings have been exposed. Is the community so short of quality leaders with clean background or is all this due to influence from powerful individuals?
Daniel Liang : Chua Soi Lek and Ong Tee Keat should just work out their differences behind the scene. It is completely humiliating to both of them, MCA, and the Chinese community if they continue to fight openly.
CkL : Chua should stop giving problems to MCA. The more he appears in public, the more people will look down on him! I don't think Umno will work with him unless all Umno leaders behave like him too!
Louis : I feel Chua Soi Lek should graciously withdraw from the political scene. Once you are caught with your pants down, there is nothing much that you can do to redeem your lost integrity. Remember the Profumo scandal in England. He bravely faced up to his misadventure and retired into oblivion. Chua should do the same.
Allow Ong Tee Keat to pursue the PKFZ scandal relentlessly so that the culprits can be put behind bars and also save the nation millions of ringgit. Don't derail Ong's plan to save the nation from plunging into more debts.
Subra pulls Dr M out of the hat, Samy vexed
Avvai : I am no big fan of S Subramaniam but a compliment from the ex-PM is a compliment indeed. Just because S Samy Vellu did not get any compliments from other BN component leaders, it does not make Subra a traitor that disgraces MIC. Samy has done so much damage to tarnish the party. Let's face it, Samy fears to be challenged. After his defeat in the last general election, he is probably worried he may lose MIC too. Anyway may the best man win.
Sexy Baby: How can Samy call support from Mahathir Mohamad as external interference? It goes to show that Subra has the support of Mahathir, Najib Razak, and Muhyuddin Yassin. The message is clear: Umno is behind Subra. They prefer him compared to Samy or G Palanivel.
Yuvan: It is not Subra who is desperate. It is Samy Vellu who is desperate and wants to cling on to his post in MIC. If Samy Vellu and his men have any guts, they should be brave enough to tell Mahathir to stay out of MIC politics.
Samy Vellu supporters in MIC should be ashamed to face the Indian community for the simple reason that their party was thrashed in the last general election (March 2008) due to their leader's (Samy Vellu's) arrogance and his complete failure in tackling the Indian community's problems.
Najib: Umno is an Islamic party
Old Chap: There you go, another desperate claim to compete with PAS. Once upon a time, our country miraculously "transformed" from a secular country into an Islamic country even though the former is clearly stated in the constitution.
Md Imraz Muhammed Ikhbal : It is obvious that our PM knows not the basic definition and fundamentals of an Islamic party. Performing a few noble acts as advocated by Islam does not automatically make any political party Islamic. And of certainty, there is nothing Islamic about running a government to help alleviate the misery of just one race alone using the taxpayers money of all other races.
Fairness and justice are pillars in Islam. So is equality of race. Verily Islam is not mere lip service. It demands the manifestation of its teachings in every aspect of one's life including his speech, conduct, decisions, thoughts and beliefs.
Nedunchelian Vengu: Umno is a race-based party and not religion-based. Get this fact right. The time to fool the rakyat is all over. With cyberspace open to everyone, things are transparent in the eyes of rakyat.
Chee Hoe Siew : As far as I can see, there is nothing righteous about Umno, it's all about greed, corruption, causing pain to others. Imagine that Umno actually threatens others with blood, how holy can they be? Najib continues to claim how Umno helped the Malays. Has he forgotten that there are also other races? This guy is definitely trying his best to pull in Malay support.
What I Care Most : Honestly, I don't care whether Umno is an Islamic or un-Islamic party.
What I care about is Malaysia's standing in the world stage under the Umno/BN regime. What I care about is why Umno politicians are so incompetent. What I care about is why the evil regime can usurp the people's power by seizing power from a duly-elected government by dubious means. What I care about is why a regime can make use of the judiciary to mess up the law and constitution of a country.
What I care about is a harmonious Malaysia where all races are not judged by the colour of their skin but by their character. What I care about is a better Malaysia. What I care about is Malaysia under a people-centred government.
