The government plans to amend the film censorship guidelines to make it more “flexible and receptive”.

Home Ministry secretary-general Mahmood Adam said that the 1993 film censorship guidelines are no longer in tune with the changing times.

He said a special seminar would be held in Pulau Langkawi next month to analyse in detail, each suggestion given towards the amendment.

Mahmood said, in relation to that, the ministry invited all local film producers and enthusiasts to provide suggestions for use in the amendment to improve the guidelines.

"We will broaden the Film Censorship Board to enable film producers and script writers to be involved in the process of producing the guidelines, censorship and evaluating appeal," he said at a dialogue session with local film enthusiasts here.
