Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has urged party members to scrutinise electoral rolls displayed by the Election Commission (EC) every quarter so that they can raise objections.

He said Umno and BN component parties should be sensitive to developments by ensuring that every member sign up as voters.

khairy jamaluddin interview 230209 07 "We must scrutinise the electoral rolls so that we can object to names of those whom we suspect are not staying at the said addresses," he told reporters after presenting ‘bubur lambuk’ to the public at Masjid Kampung Baru in Kuala Lumpur today.

Khairy was commenting a statement by EC that DAP had registered the most new voters with Umno coming in third.

He suspected that some of the new voters registered by DAP were old ones who had been moved to areas favoured by the opposition.

"Other than registering new voters, we must also find out who are the active members as Umno will give the grassroots more power to choose leaders," he said.

After presenting ‘bubur lambuk’, Khairy and Titiwangsa Umno Youth visited Bazar Ramadan in Kampung Baru and distributed masks to the public to check the spread of Influenza A(H1N1).

Umno president Najib Razak had directed divisions to focus on voter registration.

About 30 percent of Umno Youth members had yet to register as voters.
