Kerdau state assemblyman Zaharuddin Abu Kassim, was injured after being involved in an accident at KM116.3 of the East Coast Highway near the Lanchang rest area in Pahang yesterday.

In the accident about 10.15pm, Zaharuddin, 63, together with a friend was returning to his house in Kuala Lumpur after attending a breaking of fast function and visiting his constituency in Kerdau.

The Perdana V6 driven by him is believed to have skidded and hit the road divider.

Zaharuddin, who is from Umno, was rushed to the Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh and had five stitches to his head besides sustaining light injuries to his body.

His friend escaped unhurt.

Temerloh police district chief, ACP Ahmad Fadzillah Mohamed, confirmed the incident.
