Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud has called on the people in the state to stop criticising the BN government.

He said Sarawak had benefitted tremendously from the development programmes implemented by the federal government, including infrastructure development, since the formation of Malaysia 46 years ago.

bn supreme council mt meeting sapp sabah issue 190608 taib mahmud Taib, who has been Sarawak’s chief minister for 27 years, also called on the people to safeguard peace and harmony among the people, which he said was due to the sacrifice of the nation's forefathers.

"If there are chaos in the country, it will be impossible for us to celebrate any festivity. We should therefore take stock of what the government has done for us," he said in his Hari Raya message.

‘Sarawak a 1Malaysia model state’

He also said that Malaysians were fortunate to have a prime minister "who has the qualification and a leader who cares for the people's well-being."

Meanwhile, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng, in his Hari Raya message, said he hoped that the open house tradition would continue.

He added that this would strengthen unity among the people in line with the 1Malaysia concept.

"The prime minister recognises Sarawak as a 1Malaysia model state," he said.
