Terengganu Tengah Development Authority (Ketengah) aims to improve tourism and develop Kenyir Lake with the allocation of RM10 million this year.

Its general manager Hamzah Ngah said Ketengah had identified several projects, among which was to build the Gawi tourism terminal and improve the facilities at the Herbal park and Pulau Sah Kecil.

"This will help Kenyir Lake to expand as a major tourist attraction in the country," he said.

He also said that Ketengah received an allocation of RM25 million in special fund from the federal government this year.

The biggest allocation was for the tourism sector, with RM10.3 million, infrastructure and social (RM6.3 million), housing programme (RM3.2 million), human capital and education (RM2.2 million), economic and business development (RM1.7 million), information technology and communication (RM800,000) and poverty eradication (RM500,000).

He said that under the infrastructure and social project, Ketengah planned to build and improve the roads in Cheneh Baharu along with repairing the drainage system in the area.
