No new deaths from influenza A(H1N1) were recorded today and the total so far remains at 77.

Director-General of Health Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said 135 new cases with influenza-like illness (ILI) were warded in hospitals nationwide while 108 were discharged, leaving the total at 704.

Of the total ILI patients still under treatment, 184 or 26 per cent were confirmed H1N1 cases.

Twenty-one patients or 11 per cent were in intensive care, he said, adding that there were no new admissions to the intensive care units (ICU) while four cases were discharged today.

Nineteen of the patients in intensive care had risk factors - seven were children under five, three had chronic diseases, obesity (five), chronic respiratory diseases (three) and one was a senior citizen above 65 years old, he said in a statement today.

The last H1N1 death was recorded last Friday.
