The Magistrate's Court here today fixed Oct 22 for judgment on Batu MP Tian Chua Chang on a charge of causing hurt to a policeman two years ago.

Magistrate Mohd Faizi Che Abu fixed the date after hearing submissions from the prosecution and defence.

Chua, who is now the PKR strategic affairs director, was arrested ( above ) during a Bersih gathering to protest a constitutional amendment to extend the retirement age of Election Commission members from 65 to 66.

The offence carries a maximum three years jail or a fine, or both, on conviction.

The prosecution had called eight witnesses and the defence three.

Tian Chua was represented by counsel Ranjit Singh while deputy public prosecutor Lee Keng Satt appeared for the prosecution.
