Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department T Murugiah said he was still awaiting decision on his appeal to the Registrar of Society's (ROS) against his dismissal from the People’s Progressive Party (PPP).

kayveas murugiah ppp Murugiah said although he respected the ROS' decision that M Kayveas is the rightful president, he (Murugiah) had appealed to the agency to review the decision.

On a call made by Kayveas to Prime Minister Najib Razak to remove him as deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department as he did not belong to any party, Murugiah said he would not budge as the prime minister had the final say.

“There must be reasons why the prime minister retained me. It could be by virtue of my performance and my potential in garnering the support of the Indian community," added Murugiah.

He will campaign in Bagan Pinang

Despite being partyless, Murugiah said he and his supporters would assist BN in the Bagan Pinang state by-election.

"We will campaign in Indian majority areas including in the opposition stronghold," he added.

Kayveas and Murugiah were locked in a tussle for control of the party.

Murugiah convened an emergency general meeting at which he was declared as the new PPP president. Kayveas, in response, removed him from the party.

The ROS decided that Kayveas, who retained the presidency unopposed on May 30, is the lawful president based on the elections of PPP’s 2005-2010 supreme council members on Oct 2, 2005.
