The 'conspiracy' against MIC

Ikmal : It's easier to point fingers and blame others than to say they were wrong. Why doesn't MIC quit BN and its ministers resign if they believe this to be true? MIC at this stage is irrelevant either to BN or Pakatan Rakyat. Even if it does not change, it shall remain irrelevant, especially with all the infighting.

Arul: You don't have to be a genius to understand what is happening to MIC. But MIC unlike the Makkal Sakthi party had honourable origins. MIC even teamed up with AMCJA-PUTERA in 1947. Unlike Makkal Sakthi party- it was formed by Prime Minister Najib Razak to safeguard Umno's interests.

Danny : I just can't believe what I am hearing and seeing. There goes a party that worked for independence and cracked - all because of S Samy Vellu. As an Indian, I am sad too, but things have to change and I hope and pray one day this will also happen to Umno. Samy and MIC have been cheated and taken for a ride.

Wisdom: Now what? This will not augur well with the Indian community who have stayed with BN through thick and thin. Indians make a small portion of the community but are unable to unite. As a result every Indian has a field day setting up parties that sprout like mushrooms.

Hibiscus : Najib should focus on retiring the powerful warlords in Umno if he is serious about 1Malaysia. These fellows are from the Mahathir era, planted there to perpetuate the racist socially destructive policies of Mahathir, which are very destructive to 1Malaysia.

Samy Vellu? He is the least of MIC's problems. MIC's problems will be gone if these powerful racist warlords in Umno are gone. Then maybe BN will have a chance in the next election.

Barrister at law : This is probably true, but the whole MIC election is not really undertaken with regard for best practices, is it? So there is no harm in Umno acting as a counterweight to bring some order within BN.

Kgen : The standard defence of conspiracy with the well-worn justification for hanging on - "a leader who can stand up to Umno". There is no leader in MIC or MCA who can stand up to Umno. They are all subservient and it is only a matter of degrees who is more subservient than another.

I would advise Samy Vellu not to pay attention to this worthless conspiracy theory but to salvage the last dregs of his dignity by leaving quietly. Umno's hints have turned to clarion calls for him to go. How many more slights from Najib and insults from Mahathir is Samy willing to take?

There is no way Umno will allow Samy to stay on until 2012 when elections are close. Does Samy want to wait until Umno sends the MACC after him? For the love of God, go!

Ngawangjimpa : MIC is becoming more irrelevant by the day in BN. It's not so much Umno's divide-and-rule policy as alleged but Samy's refusal to step down even though he is a political dinosaur and liability to the Indians.

MIC will remain as what it has been in the last three decades unless a fresh and bold face takes over. For too long, MIC has been mired in the stale and dictatorial world of Samy-ism.
