The DAP has reiterated that it stood together with other political parties in the country in condemning the arrogance of Israel in their conflict with the Palestinians.

"The DAP has been consistent on this issue. The party is against all forms of terrorism including the Sept 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York and the Pentagon," its deputy chairperson Karpal Singh said in a statement.

In fact, the party's international secretary and Seputeh MP Teresa Kok had issued a press statement on April 3 condemning the unrelenting violence by Israel which left many innocent Palestinians dead, he said, adding that party chairperson Lim Kit Siang has also repeatedly spoke against Israeli actions.

Karpal was responding to a report which quoted PAS information chief Azizan Abdul Razak as saying that "neither the DAP nor Karpal has made a stand regarding the atrocities committed by Israel against the Palestinians".

Puzzled

Azizan said he was puzzled that while PAS and Umno had expressed their objections against Israel, DAP leaders were quiet on the issue.

"The DAP is together with Umno in its condemnation of Israeli's aggression. This is an issue which transcends the political divide and Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has the blessings of the DAP in his endeavour to fight international terrorism," added Karpal.

Karpal said that PAS should never question his party's loyalty to the country and disdain for terrorism.

Unfortunately, statements by DAP leaders on Israeli aggression had not been highlighted in the media leading people like Azizan to draw unholy and unjustified conclusions, he added.
