Nik Aziz invites Mahathir to visit Kelantan
Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has invited former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to visit Kelantan and see for himself the development under the PAS administration.
Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has invited former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to visit Kelantan and see for himself the development under the PAS administration.
He said there was no need for the former prime minister to come to his office officially to look at the extent of the success achieved by him in administering the state which had been considered backward and undeveloped.
Nik Aziz claimed that the development brought by the state government was in terms of physical and mind cleansing and these were most important compared to physical development alone.
"The statement, that the state government under my administration is (purportedly) not progressive and backward, is incorrect. That's why I invite him to come personally and look for himself at the physical development.
“Now, there is the KB Mall, there is Hotel Renaissance, there is the Tesco supermarket, there is Parkson, there is Nirwana. He can see for himself," he told reporters at his office at Kota Darulnaim.
Mahathir told Nik Aziz to quit
Nik Abdul Aziz was asked to comment on the statement by Mahathir that the Kelantan menteri besar should be held responsible for the backwardness of the state under his administration.
Mahathir had said that at one stage, he (Nik Aziz) was responsible for Kelantan's backwardness. Mahathir had said Nik Aziz must accept it. In other countries, people would resign if they fail.
Nik Abdul Aziz said the major change implemented in Kelantan was to correct the faith of the Muslims in the state that there was only one God including issues on 'halal and haram'.
Among the changes brought about were the closing of gambling premises, restricting the sale of liquor, implementing the system of Islamic pawnshop and making better use of the mosques.
